That was my thought, too. Some hate FB but there are good things about it. It was great being able to read the posts there.
Some of us will not patronize FB for good reason!
I hate Facebook, it’s very invasive. Nonetheless, I have an “account” that I don’t use just to put a stop to the invites. I went to the FR Facebook page several times over the weekend to monitor progress on getting the site back up. Made the mistake of clicking a link to an article posted, got one of those fake “Your Mac blah blah blah call this 800 number” routines. Just shut down the browser, clear history and open it again. I got the impression that there were a number of people there who were trying to “friend” people for nefarious reasons. No way to know if they are who they said they were. People trolling for FReepers to visit butt-hurt anti-FReeper sites, too.
No thanks.
Not on FB. Don’t appreciate their privacy invasion.

Poster has a point and FB is not FR
I checked out the FB FR page for updates but I’m not going to post anything there. I like the anonymity here.
When I looked at FB, and put in Free Republic in the search, it took me to a page that had zero activity and was like a holding page. I couldn’t find any way to pose a question or ask anything about FR being down. While I have a FB account, I stopped using it for the most part over the summer. They have shown me that the censor people with whom they have a difference of opinion. FB thinks they get to show me what is newsworthy and what isn’t. They routinely disregard privacy settings, at least mine. I ask that I get no notifications to my email, but I get them nearly every day. So sorry that I could not find the FB page to which you are referring. It would have been some small comfort to see that there was an avenue to be in touch with other FReepers for the last few days. As it was, I turned my efforts into doing other things.
Yep, we were and we were having a pretty damn' good time too! Glad FR's back up. It feels like home, and it's damn' zippy again too! Whatever failed I think had been failing for awhile. It was taking for the Forum page to display for me for the past month or so. Not today! Not since the site came back up.
