Ok so I dont own freerepublic only Jim does. But we support it. Can there be an official report why on one of the most important days of crossing the finish line FR was down? Can that be explained please? Maybe we need to hold a special fundraiser to have a alternative data site and professional server managers that can handle contingency issues? This is by no means a criticism of Jim. But it was like being locked out of our own celebration at the club we belong.
Your screen name has become very familiar to many of us reading FR threads over time, and I am stunned to read your post. FRiends, we were all disappointed to lose Free Republic at a time we were waiting eight years to experience; yet here is a woman who has LOST her child! Some should hang their heads in shame, and we should all unite in prayer for ‘Harley Lady’ at this time.

Nobody’s demanding you do so. But the FR page has 6,000 members if I remember from yesterday. And I do believe Laz was there in person as was Jim (who kept updating us).
Facebook is NOT a viable substitute.
I noticed increasingly slow or incomplete page loads for a few days prior. I thought is was my stupid phone. I was dismayed when I could not fully gloat on Inauguration Day. That said, I agree with some others that perhaps it was a good thing in that we could watch and reflect on the enormity of what was happening without distraction. We as a nation were once again acknowledging the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and all in the name of Jesus of Nazareth! The nation is returning to its founding principles.

I hate Facebook, it’s very invasive. Nonetheless, I have an “account” that I don’t use just to put a stop to the invites. I went to the FR Facebook page several times over the weekend to monitor progress on getting the site back up. Made the mistake of clicking a link to an article posted, got one of those fake “Your Mac blah blah blah call this 800 number” routines. Just shut down the browser, clear history and open it again. I got the impression that there were a number of people there who were trying to “friend” people for nefarious reasons. No way to know if they are who they said they were. People trolling for FReepers to visit butt-hurt anti-FReeper sites, too.

I was dragged onto Facebook a long time ago. The people on there, friends and acquaintances, are nearly all libs. I don’t feel comfortable on there, even though I love a lot of those people. I’m good at being friends to libs and accepting them as they are, but they are not as tolerant. And I despise Zuckerberg. I like looking at pics of my friends’ kids and that is almost it.
Thank You all (((FR FAMILY)))...she was a beautiful woman, mother, daughter, and sister...and she will be deeply missed, but we know she is with her brother, father and grandparents and most of all God...
Not on FB. Don’t appreciate their privacy invasion.

If everyone would just sign up to be a Monthly Donor, even $5 a Month, we wouldn’t have to trudge through the quarterly FReepathons and could spend our time complaining why there aren’t Edit Functions and Like Buttons here. #;^)
