I live in Baltimore. It was cheaper to send my daughter to Naples, Florida and board at Ave than for her to live at home and go to Loyola College in town. Plus, the faith component blows Loyola away. Every year, the incoming freshman at Ave have higher GPA’s and SAT scores than the previous class. Its getting competitive. The kids really make the place. Of course it doesn’t hurt to see the palm trees, sun and beach excursions in January.

Good information for when the time comes, thanks.

There are 2 things that frustrate me as I look to my kids’ future, one being the expense of college. But that wouldn’t bother me so much if I thought it would be worthwhile. I’m a stay at home mom and would happily go back to work full time to give them the best springboard possible towards whatever it is they want to become. However the value of college seems to be getting less and less, and I do NOT wish to be complicit in the amoral brainwashing and stupification of their generation through my financial support. So it makes me happy to see that there are still a few good options.

Not to mention...in the sun and near beaches and shopping and mansions and the Everglades and art galleries and nice people and actually now that I think of it 2nd and 3rd cousins...bonus! :D

One thing I always liked about Naples was that for all the money washing around it wasn’t the least snobby. I could go window shopping in the little couture boutiques (I really like the art that goes into that kind of stuff) and no one ever gave me the stink eye.
