Sadly, women are especially vulnerable to this. For too many, you show them one sob story and facts/reason just go out the window.
Generally speaking, men tend to be logical thinkers and women tend to be emotional thinkers. But here is the dirty little secred: Neither is better or worse than the other. They are just different. And each comes with strengths and weaknesses.
And to be clear, yes, men do make emotional decisions all the time and women make logical decisions all the time.
However, you nailed the problem here. Emotion must not enter into something like this. It only gets you into trouble. One must look at where the money is coming from.
BTW, the reason this is so incredibly divisive is that part of the nation puts a great deal of faith in the great healer (Jesus) while a large part of the nation is humanist. It is the latter group that is the problem here. For them, there is no real place for faith.
Interestingly, faith has been my health insurance since 1/1/2014. And that faith has saved me about $45k after tax dollars.
