Do not, not slough that off. I scoffed too and finally got one to stop my dads nagging. Three polyps the first go round, none malignant then or in subsequent scans.
Had a co-worker go out with colon cancer. He died hard. Very, very hard.

I put it off for more years than recommended, and when I had the first one at 66 years old it screwed up the doctors schedule when he took hours to get the dozen large polyps out.

I was really lucky, a couple of them were cancerous but the cancer hadn't spread through the polyp ‘root’ into the colon wall yet.

Guys, don't put off the big probe - but get your doc to knock you out for the procedure. As a bonus apparently I even have a tattoo somewhere up there I can't even show people...:^)

Interesting thread, this. I had my first colonoscopy this very morning, at age 61. Eleven polyps, and I have to go back to get one removed that the doctor couldn’t or wouldn’t get during the procedure. No word yet on malignancy.

Didn’t much care for the prep, but it was no worse than a few occasions during the couple of years I worked in Mexico, and didn’t involve stomach pains or vomiting (or Mexican bathrooms).
