I sprinkle cayenne in the bird feeders. Keeps the rodents away. Birds can’t taste it or be harmed by it.
years ago a neighbor’s pesky little dog used to soil my yard every morning. I took a fatty piece of leftover meat and coated it in cayenne flakes then left it in the yard for the critter.
He never visited us again.
