Being a Marine is one thing. I applaud her service, she’s my sister for it, no matter her politics.
Being Marine infantry is another thing, altogether. I was in it for a while, before I went over to Combat Engineers. You have to learn to have an affection for misery, even while bitching about it.
I wonder if these three actually passed the tests that you had to pass? My late father was a communications Marine in WWII, Korea and Vietnam and that was hard enough. Familiarity was why I went Army instead. Who wants to go back to the same places they lived as a child?
That’s why they’re better off in the airwing, logistics, or Camp Johnson. Grunt supporters.

Great line....
We had to destroy the village in order to save it.(sic)
I really am not a fan of Women in Combat BUT if they pass all the tests honestly and no alterations, let em go.
Like ‘they’ used to tell the gays when they wanted to get married...
“Let them— no sense them not being as miserable as any other married couple”
Are there any historical books that I could read that would come close to truthfully explaining and documenting the misery you experienced while training in the Infantry? Thank you in advance.
