I’m not making this up.. It really happened.
Years ago when I first hung out my shingle as a CPA I had a sign hand painted to be hung along the street in front of my office building. It was a beautiful sign approximately 2 ft high and 3 ft wide, white with black lettering shadowed in grey. Since it was hanging on a post along the street, both sides were painted so traffic coming either direction could read it.
It was absolutely beautiful except for one misspelling,the same word on both sides of the sign.
In bold black lettering 4 inches high it said:
Certified Pubic Accountant
Needless to say, after the sign painter stopped laughing (and I took a few pictures) she agreed to make the correction for free.
