Alabama Has Dismissed Lane Kiffin One Week Before The National Championship Game(snip)
"I think the way we went about the last game, whether it was the preparation, the practice, being able to focus on what we need to do, for our team, relative to the distractions that occur when you are trying to hire a staff [at FAU], and recruit at another place, and all these types of things," Saban said. "Hey, Lane did the best he could. It's a difficult circumstance. We certainly wish him well. We both had a meeting [Sunday] and again this morning, that we thought this would be in the best interest and mutually agreed for both parties to move on."
Brett McMurphy of ESPN reports that Kiffin had been late to meetings, and that, along with other incidents, contributed to his early exit.

I heard he missed the bus going to the Peach Bowl, not sorry to see him go. I did like the fact that his presence caused Tennersee fans to froth at the mouth a little more than usual.

The word from Tiderinsider (the main place where we Bama fans get our inside info) is that many of the assistant coaches were furious about Kiffin’s lack of focus, his “ass chewing” comments prior to the Washington game and his questionable play calling during the game. There were also several heated discussions between Saban and Kiffin during the game about the play calling, and at one point Kiffin supposedly refused to call a play that Saban told him to. Love Saban or hate him, he will always put the team ahead of any one individual.

I can’t imagine showing up late for a Saban meeting.

(First they came for Sarah, then they came for Herman, and now they've come for Trump.)
