Confined to a California prison since 1971, former Manson family member and convicted murderer Patricia Krenwinkel is now the longest-serving female inmate in the state’s correctional system.
On Thursday, the 69-year-old will have a chance at freedom when a review board considers whether to recommend her for parole.
Krenwinkel was sent to death row after a Los Angeles jury convicted her of killing actress Sharon Tate and six others in a two-day rampage intended to trigger a race war. The killings were done at the behest of Charles Manson, leader of a cult-like group living on an old movie ranch near Chatsworth.

Why is it so special that she is the longest serving woman in jail? Is the author implying women should have lower sentences than men? And why is Manson still in jail if this woman should be released? He didn’t actually do the murdering did he?
Hillary Clinton has nothing to do with Manson and his butchering followers.
The Manson clan including Krenwinkel and Van Houten should have been executed long ago for slaughtering all those perfectly innocent people but a leftist CA Supreme Court saved them.
No parole, no commuted sentences for any of these murders, they should all die in prison.
There are many people who belong in prison for life and yet are free. That in no way justifies releasing a vicious murderer. Patricia Krenwinkel should never walk free, even though other evil women, like Hillary, are never prosecuted.
If Krenwinkel finds God and peace, I’m okay with that. If not, I’m okay with that too. Her spiritual destiny is in God’s hands. However, her legal destiny is in the Parole Board’s hands, and they should protect the safety of the people. Keep that murderer locked up forever.

The reason they don't parole the Manson followers still in prison is because if they paroled the admitted and convicted murderers of Tate and the LaBiancas then what intellectual reason is there to keep Charlie in prison? Might as well parole Charles Manson along with them.
I would be surprised if Gov. Jerry Brown sought to make the chief memorable legacy of his terms in office as the governor who paroled Charles Manson.
The only way out of prison for the Manson Family killers before their death is to leave on a gurney, cancer-ridden, weak as a kitten, with just days to live.

They say Charlie ordered the hit and that’s why he in jail, but where is the proof?
He was not even there when it happened.

I do know one thing, there are more dead bodies around the Clintons than around the Mansons. We all know this. Why is one “family” in jail and the other not? Ask yourself this. I see Kerwinkle a lesser threat than Hillary. I would run from Hillary.

Morgana: Hillary Clinton is not in prison next to Patricia Krenwinkle because she didn’t murder anyone in California, much less participate in the Manson Family slayings. That’s the reason you think the Mansons deserve parole?

I’ve watched Krenwinkel at all of her parole hearings. She’s always crying that she’s denied parole. What does she think of her victims who can’t escape death?
They should all have been executed decades ago. But hoping that someone goes to Hell is an entirely different matter. That is a mortal sin.
It’s California. It’s Awards Season. Make her a lovely trophy... but leave her ass in jail.
