Confined to a California prison since 1971, former Manson family member and convicted murderer Patricia Krenwinkel is now the longest-serving female inmate in the state’s correctional system.
On Thursday, the 69-year-old will have a chance at freedom when a review board considers whether to recommend her for parole.
Krenwinkel was sent to death row after a Los Angeles jury convicted her of killing actress Sharon Tate and six others in a two-day rampage intended to trigger a race war. The killings were done at the behest of Charles Manson, leader of a cult-like group living on an old movie ranch near Chatsworth.

Someone please tell me why the both are still in jail and Hillary is not in there with them?
The same people who support Hillary, who like what she do, who think she should have been Madame President, detest these two. Yet we had Meme all during the election that read: "Would rather vote Charles Manson over Hillary he's had less people killed". We have all seen the video of Hillary laughing when she found out Colonel Gaddafi was dead. Heard the tape of her laughing about defending a rapist that she knew was guilty. She was kicked off Watergate for bad ethics.
At this point in the game would like to believe Kernwinkel and Van Houten have learned from their mistakes and are too old to repeat them. Would not mind it if part of their parole was to go around to schools and tell these young skulls full of mush that doing what they did was not cool and what prison was like. Maybe it will help these stupid kids, reach some of them.
Under Jerry Brown 55k....that is 55,000 have been release from cali prisons. 2500 that had murder convictions.
If it was a lower profile case or if she was an illegal, she would have been out very long ago.

If they are paroled, life in prison without parole is a bigger joke than it already is. I wish they had been gassed 45 years ago.

I am not a big fan of the death penalty but there are cases where the crime is so depraved that there is no other just punishment.
I think all the Manson family deserved death.
They should be hanged tonight.

Why should they get out. They brutally murdered innocent people and those people will not come back. They had one life and it was taken from them for nothing but thrills.
Actually Van Houten was granted a new trial, not sure the outcome of it.
These three became sane once they were away from Charlie, one has to wonder why he was let out of jail to start with?
If sirhan sirhan had walked into the Ambassador Hotel on June 6, 1968 and killed a cook and two waiters, today he'd be a free man, living off public benefits. There should never be one form of justice for those who kill Kennedies and another for those who kill "common" folk.

She should have been executed. She should never be released, let her rot in a cell.

Why is the law only for them and not the rest? Just making a point here. If it’s not going to be applied everyone then it applies to no one. Either keep illegals (and others who have murdered) in for life or let them out.

Let them pay their debt to society in full. Deny them parole, and let them die in prison.
The parole board recommended parole for Van Houten, but Governor Moonbeam veto it.
Yet no one has agreed that Hillary should be in there with them...
