I was worried that this was near our favorite restaurant.

We now live 600 miles from it but are back home for Christmas and are going there Wednesday.

It’s a mile away so we’re ok.

Sad for the families involved.

Sad for the families involved.

Families were exiting with their Christmas packages. What would you take? So sad.

Friends of mine had their home burn down in the San Bruno fire a few years back. One of the first three to go in the fire, they lost everything. Even their safe containing jewelry melted and burned to ashes. They were away at a restaurant, invited at the spur of the moment by friends just before it happened. They went through much grief losing everything. Wouldn't wish this on anyone.

That is really sad. Not a natural sinkhole..infrastructure decay. Of the worst kind. It is going to take money and miracles to fix. But somewhere in the next 4 to 8 years I am hoping and praying that greater Detroit is one of those areas that will be listed on a ‘most improved’ scorecard.
