Most of the subjects had terminal cancer, and several died within a year after the trial but not before having a mental adventure that appeared to have eased the existential gloom of their last days.

If it were cancerous in humans that would have showed up long ago
I did not realize it at the time but it was the gasoline that fueled the youth reaction to the postwar establishment of the 1950s and 60s
That was arguably not a good thing anymore than most 1960s upheaval was
There should have been a middle ground between dirt hippie life and Father Knows Best
College radicals who were actually not in college usually and more my own parents age and born literally of communist parents also took and espoused LSD
The weathermen too
But so did some conservatives early to understand it
Fairy dust for the human race best left to tiny sprinkles
It would appear we’ve learned because there is no giant wave of LSD usage today
