Sneaked or Snuck: What’s the Difference?

The History of Snuck

Snuck is an American creation dating back 1800s ¹ as a nonstandard, regional variant of sneaked.

It was met first with widespread condemnation, but snuck has, with each passing generation, become more and more widespread in its use.

In fact, the below chart shows just how popular it has become in the United States, being used with almost equal frequency as the traditional sneaked.

sneaked out and sneaked in grammar rules

More ad verecundiam by citing a website that emerged in the last month of 2014, which reinforces my supposition of Commie Core in that respect.

And ad hominem this time, but I forgive that, especially since the chart does note the popularity of snuck being directly proportional to the increase of liberalism in the USA—but with the traditional form sneaked fighting back.

Please understand that ultimately I am taking umbrage with the media’s use of the so-called non-standard form of the word.
