The mother of a gang member who confessed to brutally murdering a transgender teenage girl in a hate crime has claimed her son's victim was 'living in sin'.

Kelly Wilkins, from Mobile, Alabama, is the mother of 29-year-old Josh Brandon Vallum - who pleaded guilty to a hate crime on Wednesday over the killing of 17-year-old Mercedes Williamson.

Williamson was found dead and partially buried in a field on June 3, 2015. Vallum confessed to the killing, which he said was motivated by his fear of how he would be judged by gang members for having a relationship with a transgender woman. He stabbed her multiple times with a military knife and beat her with a claw hammer until the screaming stopped, according Alabama.com.

However, from reading the story, it is clear that the murderer was gay or had some extremely odd habits that would indicate that he might be gay.

I never said a word about whether or not the killer was a homosexual.
Not gay-homosexual.
But call it whatever you want.

As for the murder itself, Vallum did not say that he killed in self-defense or that he killed because he was fooled by the man pretending to be a woman. He said that he killed because he feared what his fellow gang members may do to him. You cannot attribute fear of the actions of a third party as your reason for self-defense.

I never said a word about why he murdered, in fact I don't care what his excuse or reason was.

Vellum is a murderer and he will be in prison for the rest of his life.

Yes and the person pretending to be a woman will still be just as dead.

1. No matter how many times they lie and call this guy a woman- HE wasn’t.

2.If you mess around with a gang member, you’d damn well better be up front about little details like having a penis..

The murderer’s mother said that her son was in a relationship with the victim and they were living in sin.

That tells me that Vallum knew his lover was a man pretending to be a woman.

But maybe not, Vallum is obviously really stupid.

The “I was afraid of what by fellow criminal street gang members would think.” is the dumbest criminal defense I have ever heard.
