Love that song. A timeless classic. I consider it to be the song that started the musical renaissance that was known as the 80’s. Yes, I know it came out in 1979, but it was the song that ended the dark ages of music, aka the 70’s.
Whenever I hear that song, I think about the Three Mile Island incident of March 1979. There was a partial nuclear meltdown that occured in a reactor at the Nuclear Generating Station in Dauphin County, Pennsylvannia.
Plus, of course, the song was great and very original in many ways. Even Debbie’s chosen style of singing was unique. It reminded me of female singers in the Roaring 20’s, during the Jean Harlow era. Nobody else was doing that then.
Blondies songs were great for the Roller Rink, if one was inclined to jump into Roller Skates.
well 1978 was a good year, dont you think?
Love Blondie’s hair cut in this vid.
