Mexicans, Puerto Ricans, Chileans and everyone in between come in all shapes and colors from extremely blonde to extremely black; from very tall to very short. Some dress very Hollywood American. Some dress very business suit American. Some dress very ethnic sub-group. But I know man non-Hispanics who try to pass for Hispanic. I've repeatedly been mistaken for Mexican (especially by Puerto Ricans because I learned my Spanish from Mexicans). How is it possible to look at a person and think that the person is, or is not, Hispanic? One must be psychic.
When I got back to Dallas, people started coming up and speaking to me in Spanish.
When I said, "Non se habla Espanol" they looked at me with disbelief. One guy replied to me in English, "You're kidding, right?"
