The “global left” is looking to 80-year-old Pope Francis for leadership, but his progressive political leanings could alienate more conservative Catholics in the United States and elsewhere, according to the Wall Street Journal.

“Pope Francis really inspires a lot of people to want to fight,” Florida minimum-wage activist Bleu Rainer told the Journal. “I’m pretty sure if he weren’t the face of the Catholic Church, he’d be out in the street with us. He reinforces our issues and makes them moral issues.”

Pope Francis has taken strong stands on migration, climate change, economic equality and the rights of indigenous peoples — and he has addressed three consecutive annual meetings of “popular movements,” including U.S. groups like Black Lives Matter, the Journal reported. …

Indeed he does.

And this Pope has re-affirmed why I don't buy into organized religion. Nobody knows what's behind this amazing Universe.

That said, I also don't buy into physicist's theory of the singular hyper-heated super-dense sized basketball just coming coming our of nowhere and then the Big Bang.

Nothing wrong with organized religion, only when its leaders start deliberately misleading its members and espousing evil.

Well, the beginnings of what they now call the “Big Bang” theory came from a Catholic theologian named Georges Lemaître. He didn’t incorporate what the godless physicists try to (i.e. explain a creation without a Creator); but before the fact of the expanding universe was confirmed by Edwin Hubble demonstrating red shift, the unbelieving scientists believed that the universe always existed (i.e. the “steady-state universe” theory).

Whole Foods seems like a parallel Universe to me.

How many Protestants have lost faith in the Pope and, as I do, view him simply as another leftist for the world to deal with? No human being should be considered as God by anyone. Some people are wise, or intelligent, or gifted intellectually or artistically. Some people have social gifts, athletic gifts and healing gifts through medicine and science. But, only God is God and to endow a man or woman with His powers is just fantasy. To study religion and to explain the tenets of that to others is a great thing, such as being a pastor or priest but each individual must communicate with God in a personal way. The Pope has no more power with God than any of you do.

For that matter, how many Catholics feel that way about him? “Is the Pope Catholic?” used to be a joke. Now it’s a legitimate question about Red Frank.

Indeed! Even worse for “Red Frank”, if we can believe the reports that the majority of US Catholics voted for Trump, even after “Red Frank” tried to throw the election with his Mexican border stunt shilling for illegal aliens, then we can assume that the majority of US Catholics don’t care what the guy thinks, either.

I just call him “Pope Peron”.

Francis has successfully alienated Catholics already.

Jesus Christ was not a Human Being? I believe the doctrine is Wholly God and Wholly Man. Man and human are pretty much synonymous, I believe. No one worships the Pope as God. Ther have been bad popes before, even one who was unrepentantly heretical but they did not have any effects on the Magisterium.

This pope is a fraud, using his position to spread outright lies.
Mary and Joseph were NOT homeless wandering refugees.
They left their HOME in Nazareth, temporarily, to OBEY THE LAW and respond to the decree of Caesar Augustus to register in the census.
It is apparent that Bertoglio has never read the Bible. I would like him to furnish chapter and verse concerning the “next” messiah being born to Muslim immigrants. What IN HELL is he talking about?

Amen! We signed-up to carry forward the mission that Christ himself bestowed on Peter. Not to be vanguards of a Marxist revolution.

This Pope is certainly doing nothing to strengthen the Church; I hope he is out soon (one way or another; I don’t even care how).
