They have rich land and no water.
Let the counties decide and most if Northern CA will vote to stay in US.
No more electricity from Oregon’s Bonneville Dam without huge tarriffs. Colorado River water would cause a war.

Let them go. They’ll shrivel up in a NY minute.

Ok Shervin, are you willing to fight and kill your erstwhile countrymen in furtherance to your goal?

Is it important to you?

I’d wager there are a few million fighting Americans who would be willing to go to battle against you to preserve the union.

The thing is, are you willing to sacrifice your life for this secessionist cause? I know I’m not alone in being willing to sacrifice your life to preserve the union.

How ‘bout it Sherwin? Ready to die for your secessionist cause?

Some interesting questions:

So CA residents would be giving up their US Citizenship?
Would they require visas to visit the US?
Might the US impose tariffs on CA products?
Would the wall have to be extended along the CA border?

It could work. I think they should go for it.

I’ll buy that.

Although, I’d just assume carve out the top 1/3-ish of the state and call that “California” and discard the rest.

We’d stay at 50 states and have port access to the Pacific Ocean.

Where did they plan to get water?

And oil? They don’t produce anywhere enough for their own consumption.

And dollars? They would no longer be part of the banking system.

I do not understand liberal thinking, and for that I am very grateful, but while they are screaming that those nasty Russians interfered in our elections, they open their first “Embassy” in Moscow.

California is bankrupt from state and city pensions alone.

There would still be a State of California. Why?
Because if the liberals succeeded in secession then
NorCal would split off in a heartbeat under the name
State of California or possibly the State of Jefferson.
To hell with the SiliCONjob Valley. And, the new nation
can call themselves North Mexico for all we care.

I have two dogs from Turlock in my home right now and rescued many others from both Merced and Turlock shelters.

I suspect that Texas would benefit militarily if kalifornia returns to mexico. (That is the real agenda. La raza has to be loving this).

California needs the US as a "safety valve."

If jobs are scarce in California and the rent is too high and public education is broken, dissatisfied Californians can move to Oregon, Idaho, Colorado, Utah or somewhere else.

If they no longer can, Silicon Valley oligarchs better build higher walls around their estates.

Maybe it works the other way as well: Californians (like New Yorkers) would be very bitter and despairing if there weren't a lot of cheery, naive, and foolish people moving in from other parts of the country all the time.

I know they're counting on immigrants from abroad, but that can make more problems for the state than it solves.

We lose our SS, Medicare, and all Federal benefits. In order for the State to pay for everything, state taxes will move up to the 38% level. And since my mortgage is held by Wells Fargo, does that mean they no longer own the paper on the house? Too many unknowns

Just to be clear; all coastal waters to remain under U.S. sovereignty along with all Federal lands such as mil bases, research facilities, Nat. forests and Nat. parks.
