The report added that debris drift modeling results present strong evidence that the aircraft is most likely to be located to the north of the current indicative underwater search area.
It identified an area of approximately 25,000 sq. km with the highest probability of containing the wreckage of the aircraft.
The report went on: The experts concluded that, if this area were to be searched, prospective areas for locating the aircraft wreckage, based on all the analysis to date, would be exhausted.
The governments of Australia, Malaysia and China, where most of the passengers were from, have previously agreed to pull the plug on the operation once the current search area was fully scoured unless credible new information emerged.
A report by the ATSB last month said the plane was likely out of control when it plunged into the ocean with its wing flaps not prepared for landing, casting doubt on theories a pilot was still in charge.

How do they know this?

I’ve always been skeptical that the plane was that far south. IIRC, the last known radar indicated direction was to the north west.
Also, a woman on a flight passing above the Andaman Islands said she observed a plane in the water. But her report was instantly discounted by the local powers, and she was scorned, being a woman and all. Perhaps she wasn’t so crazy after all.

Here is the original UK Daily Mail on her account:
We all know where islam lives. Nuke it and nuke it now.
islam has no path for redemption. Kill it now.
They’ll find an honest Hillary before they find that plane.
A scenario that fits all the circumstances would be that one of the two pilots had a terrorist plot, he started to carry it out, but the second pilot tried to intervene, was put out of commission but at the same time the rest of the flight crew rushed in and took control away from the pilot. At that point, whether the first pilot was conscious or unconscious/dead, there was nobody able to fly the plane or even communicate with anyone. The plane then flew on in some random direction as we’ve been led to believe, and crashed into the ocean when fuel ran out.
In other words, it’s right where I said it would have to have been, back in the first 24 hours after the story broke.
Exactly!
