On the one hand, Reddy, you don't know she had "unprotected sex" --- nearly half of abortions are obtained by women who were using a contraceptive at the time they were impregnated. Other than sterilization, most contraceptives have a "failure rate" --- it seems life wants to triumph, regardless --- and the "in practice" failure rate is always higher than the theoretical failure rate.

On the other hand, all non-marital sex is unprotected sex. It's the opposite of security, commitment, and honor.
