I lived there when in high school and remember being amazed by avocados rotting on the ground under trees. And dates under palms. We also ate weird fruit from an unknown tree in somebody’s back yard once. It was yellowish, tasted good, and didn’t kill us. Years later I found “loquat” on the internet.
