Very much so. Because it is so distant in the past, it becomes much easier to be objective about what happened. The Russians took the brunt of the German Assault. Without their sacrifice of 20 million lives, Germany would have won the war.
I grew up believing that the US won the war because the history lessons I was taught played up the US role in the conflict, but when you look at the real story, you realize the US only saw a tiny piece of the fighting (In Europe) that went on in WWII.
I am not disparaging American effort and sacrifice, I am merely pointing out that the Russians took most of the fight out of the Germans before we ever got into the conflict in any significant manner.
