Ivanka Trump will reportedly have an office in an area of the White House typically reserved for the first lady after her father becomes president.
The reports come amid speculation as to what part Donald Trumps eldest daughter will play in his administration.
Ms Trump has been an influential figure throughout the campaign and transition process, and it emerged last week that she would be taking a leave of absence from the Trump Organisation, where she is an executive vice president, and moving to Washington along with her husband Jared Kushner, who serves as one of his father-in-laws closest advisers.
Meanwhile Melania Trump, the president-elects wife, will remain in New York until her ten-year-old son Barron finishes school.
Those announcements presented the possibility that Ivanka would fill in for her stepmother as first lady.
While that would be an unusual arrangement, CNN reported on Wednesday that Ms Trump will have an office in the East Wing of the White House, in an area typically reserved for the first lady.
The network attributed that report to a transition source, who added that Ms Trumps official White House title was still to be determined.
While it remains unclear whether Ms Trump will become the de facto first lady, she is expected to continue to work closely with her father after he takes office. She sat in on Mr Trumps meeting last month with prime minister Shinzo Abe of Japan, and is on the executive committee overseeing his transition to the presidency.

I voted for "The Donald", not his daughter...
Trump seems to be very close to his kids and family is important to him. I hope his kids are at the WH with him a lot. I think the family support will be great. He is a workaholic, but will need his family around too. Go Ivanka!
Neither is any president’s wife elected.
BEST.
ELECTION.
EVER!!!!!
Michelles momma has ben living in the Whitehouse since day One. No one ever said boo. Ad she goes on those very expensive vacations, too.
Is Michelle’s momma setting policy? No. The problem is PEOTUS Trump is involving Jared for sure and apparently Ivanka in high level decision making. They are way out of their league and have no business being near these political decisions.
Terrible news—her “pet causes” are all liberal politics.
Sigh.
clinton news network sources say it will be renamed ‘office of the first family..’ the Wookie made sure the office of FLOTUS was condemed!
Where is our first lady? Ivanka may be lovely but she is a liberal - through and through.
This is not a good sign.
Yep. There is a Hillarycare type fiasco on the horizon if Trump gives the keys to these kids. No good will come of it.
I’m talking about Trump’s childcare tax credit plan recommended by Ivanka.
The federal government should keep out of state issues!
I am thinking that she will be pivotal in getting the White House ready for Melania and Barron to occupy. Ivanka can help get the family quarters redecorated, the office of the First Lady organized, etc.
Mooch had a chief of staff of sorts, didn’t she?
Think of her as an executive assistant to her dad.
Do you have any idea how many staff offices are in the WH?
None of them were elected
God knows he’s going to need help with thousands of details and issues and from people who can be trusted
And someone to look after his personal health sleep and eating habits too so he doesn’t work himself to death
Literally
she posts on breitbart all the time, the Kanye/Algore stuff is all for show...
I believe the reference is to the new entitlement that Ivanka got her dad to promote for childcare—nothing specific to another family member sharing in the government housing.
Mooch had a staff of 122
Ivanka has had her Daddy’s ear for a long time, yet he seemed to get much more Conservative over that time.
Every president has people - family or otherwise - who influence him. So far I haven't seen Ivanka "setting policy." Although yes, I'll admit, she's worth watching insofar as she's publicly announced a desire for "universal daycare."
I notice you seem to have a problem with her age. What age is acceptable to you to have some say in anything "official"? The Constitution is OK with 35 yr old presidents.
Do you know Obama’s sister Maya and her family moved to DC and they were organizing Museum shows of their mother Cloth collection.
