LL Bean stuff is still largely great quality but some of their apparel has slipped. The pique knit shirts used to be great, roomy, nice durable fabric. Not so great now. Their cargo pants would last forever and still look good. Now they wear out in a year or two (yes I’m a fashion victim, they’re just too practical to give up, room for cell phones and all the junk you carry around with you these days).

As far as the shirts...look for *Pima cotton*, I think it wears better.

Ex Officio makes good long-lasting cargos, longs and shorts.

We've never tried their shoes but for years, LL Bean was the only polo shirt my husband wore. About 2 years ago I ordered a couple of new ones (exact same style he always wore) and they were awful - didn't fit well, felt different. Same with the khakis - the hem rips and looks tattered in less than a season. I've stopped buying their clothes. OTOH, their backpacks and lunchboxes are fantastic. One of my daughters has carried the same pack for the past 6 years and it hardly shows any wear at all. Definitely worth the price.

Bean has cut back on quality on several items. Men’s nightshirts used to last forever. The new ones are total junk.
