I’ve been in the software industry for over 30 years. A four year degree was required then and it’s required now for damn good reasons. YMMV.
In the very near future large corporations will recruit at the high school level, and run these students through a combination of real/virtual school, and internships and end up with MBA level employees at the end of 4 years.
Should even the company janitors have a degree?
Me too. Should have saved the tuition and kissed ass.
Two other questions:
—Were the non-major courses important to your profession?
—Would a demonstration of basic numeracy and literacy along with the technical courses have been sufficient to do your job?
