Arab/Levantine food (like Hummus, Falafel etc.) has been introduced to the US by Christians (mostly from Lebanon) for quite some time.

It’s regional cuisine and neither ‘Muslim’ as some think, nor ‘Israeli’ as some want consumers to believe.

Carrots are believed to have originated in Afghanistan. Would you call them Afghan food. Tomatoes are of New World origin. Would you call Marinara sauce American? Corn originated in America are Mamaliga and Polenta American?

My Hummous and Falafel are Israeli.

Falafel is the nationail food of Israel. Nit that it’s not eaten elsewhere, too.

I’ve been eating middle eastern food forever since it is Israeli food. Then we met a lot of Armenians and dang if they didn’t eat the same foods! And none of us are Muslim. But I’ve traveled to many Muslim countries and eaten delicious stuff there, too.

You are right. Hummus came to America from Lebanese Christians driven from their homeland by Muslims. Lebanon was Christian country before 1973.
