I'd have at least considered the possibility that she was running point for a gang of toughs intent on robbing me. You had the benefit of seeing her body-language.

Yep. And the reverse was true. She was dressed quite professionally and was very attractive, and I’ve been trained to “appear to be carrying”. It wasn’t dark and it was pretty clear what was going on. I can’t remember the whole thing but she followed for something around a block or more before I noticed she was clearly pacing me.

I have four adult daughters and I think I somehow carried that “protective father” thing off to her.
