Boy, tough to be a seal in waters where Great Whites like to swim.
I flew in a small plane over Monomy a couple of years ago south of Chatham and the sand was filled wall to wall with seals, this wass just one small segment:

Tough to be dinner.
It's like that at the Piedras Blancas Elephant Seal Rookery at San Simeon, California. This is a fairly new rookery. There used to be only one north of Santa Cruz at Año Nuevo and it was very difficult to get tickets to walk out and see the seals. At Piedras Blancas, there's a turnout on Highway 1 and you can see this amazing view from the parking lot. A bit of advice if you visit: Pay heed to the wind direction. You really don't want to be downwind.
