After her divorce in the early 70’s my mom was waitressing at Denny's. A black guy who was a “regular” kept asking her for a date and she always declined politely. One night he pulls the race card “You won't go out with me because I'm black!”.
My mom looked him square in the eye and says: “It's not because you're black, it's because you're an a$$hole”. Probably would not be a “safe” reply these days.
