You have to love coding to do it. If you don’t, it will eat you alive. You have to get excited about learning new things because they are coming whether you like it or not.

You have to love what you do to succeed in any field. Coding is different both because of the necessary interface between people and machines, and the ever increasing pace of change. This makes for a volatile mix.

I would love to see both a foreign language and a computer language as requirements for a HS degree because of the flexibility and discipline instilled in the mind. Language and math were required when I was in HS, it could happen again.

I agree; not a bad idea at all. My children have languages starting in grammar school, but it is very shoddy; they don’t learn much because the teachers don’t know much...
