If these motorists thought setting off early would help them beat the Thanksgiving getaway rush, it appears a few others had the same idea.
ABC7 Eyewitness News captured incredible footage of what might just be the worlds worst car jam in southern California, bringing traffic to a crawl.

Looks like a Katrina evacuation. What if........
Labor Day weekend Monday on I-10 coming back from Pensacola. According to CB, the traffic was at a standstill up all the way to Houston. We gave up and took Highway 90 in.
I remember some corny 70s movie about a massive traffic jam and cranes being used.
My relatives would have the get together on Christmas eve and I would travel 42 miles down the 101 & 405 freeway. Traffic slow the time. 2 hours+. On Christmas day however the road is wide open. I could never convince them to have Christmas on Christmas day....
Hubby had 2 surgeries at UCLA this summer. Our appointments always seemed to coincide with going to work traffic or going home traffic. I hate the 405 anyway but sheesh! Yep this could be any day.
Yep...it’s all about time and mathematics
Every single day. I drive the 101 quite a bit and always try to time my trips where I don’t hit going to work or home traffic. Have been caught on it a few times then. My neighbor lives in Ventura and was working in Thousand Oaks. He used to get off work and go have dinner to just wait out the traffic. Same amount of time. lol
I got stuck on the 405 one time when a CHiPs officer was killed on his motorcycle on the ramp between the 101 and 405. They closed the entire interchange in all directions. It took me 4 1/2 hours to get from LAX to Ventura.
This is exactly how the traffic looks daily in the capital city of Mexico!! So what do you expect when the majority of the Mexican population has made Calimexico their capital!!! Look at the states across the nation and those hardcore Mexican folk are creeping across this land...NV,CO, NM and soon to be invaded AZ...AND THERE AINT NOTHING that can be done...the majority have made anchor babies and can’t be moved! In less then 20 yrs this nation will be radically changed for the worse! Without patriotism there is no country! They don’t want to assimilated because they truly believe this nation was stolen from them..and the colleges are promoting that sinking idea as well!! That’s why you see them embolden without fear of being deported! WE ARE SO SCREWED!! AND honestly I don’t think President Trump can deported them without starting a revolt with consequences! Its too late for the law to be upheld. MY two cent worth from experience living in a heavily Hispanics populated border town!
If you want to keep an eye on LA! lol

You are right. I don’t think this would have been a traffic jam if you removed the third of them that are “motor-voters”.
I would have just stayed in my hotel room and ordered room service.
BTW, that 3 miles going South on the 101 from WEHO blows on any given Sunday.
I just take the side streets and call it a day.
While we double the population every 50 years.
At this time it is 12 mph on the 405 South at Getty Center.
According to Sigalert
Yeah, that kind of looks like Bangkok every single afternoon. :)
I always ask pro immigration people to give me a list of cities that desperately need more population and traffic. Which suburbs are in desperate need to be more sprawlier. Which small towns would be better off being big towns with new sprawly suburbs and traffic. The traffic which also causes global warming.
Or Bogota... or Nairobi...
Imagine the Apocalypse and LA people trying to escape......
We spent a month+ being “driven” around southern India recently. LA is nothing re: weird traffic.
