Good God! Wonder Bread came to mind.
It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.
So how does one discuss things like this- I think the artist should have put more sesame seeds on the bun...
Out of style? You mean to tell me the ‘Velvet Elvis’ in my attic is not going to make my children wealthy?
If you look closely, you can see that the blackness is trisected in two directions, making nine squares, Brady Bunch style, if I recall. Reinhart used a 1” wide brush, because it was perfect for making the “ultimate painting” (after which there would be no more painting). He was a contemporary of Thomas Merton’s in Columbia, and they worked on the school paper together. He was a bit of a comic, and could draw/paint when he felt like it. I kind of suspect he was playing this whole thing for laughs, but it’s like being a professional wrestler. You can never admit it’s an act.
True. From the “45 Communist Goals as read into Congressional Record” -
22. Continue discrediting American culture by degrading all forms of artistic expression. An American Communist cell was told to eliminate all good sculpture from parks and buildings, substitute shapeless, awkward and meaningless forms.
23. Control art critics and directors of art museums. Our plan is to promote ugliness, repulsive, meaningless art.
LOL!
My view point exactly. Of course I also apply that to sports, if I can do it, it is not actually a sport. :)
I used to think I did not like abstract or modern art. Turned out I just don't like BAD abstract or modern art.
I was watching a home improvement show the other day and one of the couple was an artist. I only caught a glimpse of her painting but I immediately knew I would like her stuff.
When I looked at her other stuff I was right, I did like it. Could not afford it though.
Good art (IMHO) taps you on the shoulder and whispers "hello, let's get to know each other." And the more you look at it the more layers you find and the more you like it.
Of course.
Once photography made realistic pictures common, painting had to change if it was going to survive.
Putting down all forms of modern art or abstract art means not distinguishing what's good and valuable in 20th century art from what really is junk.
Lazy, unskilled modern 'artists'.
