Michigan: A mandatory recount if 2,000 votes or less separate the top two candidates. Candidates can petition for a recount due to fraud or a counting error.

I really think they want to keep Trump under 300 EV as long as they can. They’ll increment the total as late as they can when no one is looking any longer, in an effort to make it look closer than it was.

Think for a moment how poorly Hillary really did. On the day she announced her candidacy, a year and a half ago, she had NY, CA, and IL in her pocket. No effort, no money to spend, these were automatic EVs for her that totalled up to 104. She started with that. Yes, she had some NE states locked, and Trump had a few (MT, WY, ID) but the NE and Trump’s were a wash, so Hillary really started with a 104 advantage, meaning she only needed to campaign to win 166 to make the magic 270, while Trump’s campaign need to win the full 270.

At the end of it all, she only “won” 128 electoral votes (ending up at 232) and Trump “won” 306. He outperformed her by two and one-half times. A complete rout.

They really don’t want to put him over that 300 mark and are sitting on him at 290 to try to make it look closer.

As I understand it, the MI Secretary of State has announced that all votes have been counted. While it is close, its somewhat odd that New Hampshire is MUCH closer, about 1000 votes and the networks have no trouble declaring it for Hillary.
