This is one area where I differ profoundly from what I call the Triple-Cees: Cookie-Cutter Conservatives.

Many people on the right automatically assume that corporations are good and government is bad, just as many on the left automatically assume that government is good and corporations are bad.

As a Christian and conservative, I believe that this is a fallen world, and that all are susceptible to doing bad things. Power tends to corrupt. Generally, government, being the Biggest Dog on the Block, is the most likely to also be the Baddest Dog. However, big and powerful companies, like Monsanto - and Facebook, and Google - are capable of also taking a Big Bite out of individual liberty, and to do a lot of harm along the way.

I am a lifestyle nutritionist, and I have done extensive research into Monsanto. I consider this corporation to be pervasively dangerous and evil: dangerous because their products threaten the health of humans and other creatures, evil because they know this and do it anyway.

It continually seeks to pervert and control (via patent) Nature for profit, and to suppress natural crops (e.g., heirloom seeds) and natural remedies.

In 2011 it bought out a non-profit research company, Beeologics, that was studying Colony Collapse Disorder [CCD] and then buried its research, apparently because it implicated Round-Up and GMO seeds as significant causative factors.

I am thoroughly convinced that Round-Up and GMOs contribute not only to CCD but to Leaky Gut syndrome [LGS] in humans.

LGS has far-reaching effects on auto-immune conditions, allergies, chronic bowel problems (e.g., IBS), and possibly artificially-induced autism.

Our bodies were designed by the same Creator who endowed us with unalienable rights, not by Monsanto’s money-mad scientists.

This is yet another example of food nazis appealing to the gullible.

I found the msds for this product. Msds are written for health and safety professionals and can easily make the mundane sound scary

A key part is the LD50 section. LD means lethal dose. 50 is 50% of the population. That means the amount
Of the pure chemical they need to feed to rats to kill half of them.

The LD 50 is 5000 mg/kg or 5 ppb. Even the oh so scary 1100 ppb of Cheerios works out to 1.1 mg/kg.

In other words, nothing. The risk is not even negligible. It’s just scare Monterey trying to freak out the population.

It’s hard, but important to do your heart me work before passing this junk on

Glyphosate (’Round-Up’ or ‘Kleen-Up’) is a super-duper high concentrate of...wait for it...wait for it...wait for it...

Salt and water.

As a home gardener, I’ve used it for decades. When it gets to the soil level, it breaks back down into salt and water. It doesn’t leech into our groundwater. It’s not killing us, but it’s awesome on weeds, that’s for sure!

Feel free to go about your daily lives, again. :)

The U.S. has determined the acceptable daily intake of glyphosate at 1.75 milligrams per kilogram of bodyweight per day (mg/kg/bw/day) while the European Union has set it at 0.3.[50]

I don’t have time to do the math but I would say you have a higher chance of being run over by Zero on the golf course before you ate enough Cheerios to do you damage.

independent research shows that probable harm to human health begins at really low levels of exposure – at only 0.1 ppb of glyphosate.

Baloney!

For all the alarmist.

You can have expensive, “perfect”, limited availability food grown in a mixture of shit and piss

or

you can have abundant, cheap, imperfect food.

Choose..........................

But lets get the government involved in this “problem”, that will fix it.

X-ray crystallographic studies of glyphosate and EPSPS show that glyphosate functions by occupying the binding site of the phosphoenolpyruvate, mimicking an intermediate state of the ternary enzyme substrates complex.[32][33] Glyphosate inhibits the EPSPS enzymes of different species of plants and microbes at different rates.[34][35]
EPSPS is produced only by plants and microbes; the gene coding for it is not in the mammalian genome.[36][37] Gut flora of some animals contain EPSPS.[38]

The gene coding for EOSOS that this affects is not in the mammalian genome. But I have always suspected there are some plant people.

I’m glad that years ago I stopped eating all pre-prepared foods other than on very rare (a couple times a year) foods, and almost all organic grains/legumes. I noticed a big difference in health and wellbeing.

One source:
According to Dr. Seneff, glyphosate is possibly “the most important factor in the development of multiple chronic diseases and conditions that have become prevalent in Westernized societies,” including but not limited to:

Autism Gastrointestinal diseases such as inflammatory bowel disease, chronic diarrhea, colitis, and Crohn’s disease Obesity Allergies Cardiovascular disease Depression Cancer Infertility Alzheimer’s disease
Parkinson’s disease Multiple sclerosis ALS and more”

Older people who will not see the long term effects of these poisons and are not thinking of future generations are selfish by definition.

One study puts the future Autism rate in young people at 50% in a few years and approaching 100% a few years afterwards.

http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2014/04/15/glyphosate-health-effects.aspx

http://www.ecowatch.com/15-health-problems-linked-to-monsantos-roundup-1882002128.html

Most of the studies showing no issue with Glyphosate are likely paid for by Monsanto (now trying to be Bayer-Monsanto). Bayer, manufacturer of German chemical warfare agent of WW1 and the concentration camp poison gas of choice of WW2.

So the younger folks will no longer have to wait for the poison in US food sources to build up in their bodies, they can accelerate death in pill form via the German drug and chemical weapons company.

Hyperbolic drivel. Exposed to the elements, if I remember right, Roundup has a shelf life of less than a week. There’s no way it would survive the harvesting, shipping, milling, processing, packaging, and pallet time of a processed food.

Since Roundup is a non-discriminating herbicide, no farmer withan ounce of sense if going to spray it on a growing field. It is used as a pre-emerge to kill anything growing before the field is seeded. If it decays to harmless byproducts in a week and the crops take 4 to 6 months to mature, it is long gone before the seed even breaks the soil.

This is nothing more than enviro-nazi alarmism.

So regular Cheerios has twice as much Roundup as honey nut Cheerios? Not making sense to me.

If this were so it would seem to me that the average life expectancy in the U.S. would be plummeting. Since it’s really high and as far as I know, increasing, I don’t think this is true.

I know we are lower than SOME industrialized nations, but, sadly, taking the African American out of the equation and we are quite high.

I am not sure why the AA pop has such a lower life expectancy (poverty? crime? some genetic or cultural problem, like, lack of adherence to health care regimen? I don’t know).

Anyway, this chemical is obviously not making us all drop dead.

This is utter hooey, ranking right up there with Meryl Streep’s impassioned testimony about the harmless substance ALAR. “They’re killing our children!!!”

No, they’re not. ALAR was harmless.

So is glyphosate.

The only reason this woman and eco-nuts are shrieking about it is because it is the active ingredient in Roundup weed poison. The most effective and harmless weed poison ever invented.

Which brings us up to the credibility of the “food babe”.

She is a fraud who pushes pseudo-science.

She has gone on record as saying, “There is just no acceptable level of any chemical to ingest, ever.”

In a recent blog post, Hari accused several of her detractors of having nefarious ties to sinister organizations. These evildoers included Dr. Joe Schwarcz, the director for Science and Society at McGill University, Dr. Steve Novella, a Yale-educated neurologist and contributor to the Skeptics Guide to the Universe podcast, and Dr. Kevin Folta, the horticultural chair at the University of Florida. Why? Because these highly credentialed scientists had the nerve to use facts against Hari. Dr. Schwarcz speaks out regularly about her tactics. Dr. Novella debunked some wild claims of hers about the science of microwaves. And Dr. Folta said “she found that a popular social media site was more powerful than science itself, more powerful than reason, more powerful than actually knowing what you’re talking about.”

Didn’t Monstanto get bought out by Bayer (the old nazi pharmaceutical IG Farben that invented methadone)?

Great, now the company that poisons us can sell us the drugs that cure us. Talk about vertical sales.

Is this the same girl who whined about the lack of pumpkin in pumpkin spice? Even as pumpkin spice in no way implies there is pumpkin content, since pumpkin is not a spice.

Parts per billion is a teeny tiny amount.

wait til she finfs out all those foods contain dihydrogen monoxide.

as for cancer... well, I figure the alternative to chemicals that increase the shelf life of food is mass starvation for the poor...
