As a father I never spanked my kids, neither did my wife. ‘They are the best behaved kids I know. Probably because Dad is an Alpha dad, and you simply didn’t want to push him that far.

With our kids, now both conservative adults, we tried spanking but found that isolating them worked best.

Same for my wife and I. Both kids are in the 30’s, both are upstanding adults and we are very proud of them. But they had love and discipline, there were rules, and consequences for when the rules were broken. There were also rewards.

No one says a kid has to be spanked for every infraction...sometimes just being an alpha dad and conveying the aura of “might do it” if you misbehave is often enough.
