UK should modify its diet away from grains and towards animal proteins and animal (not vegetable) fat. I bet the diabetes rate would begin to crater.

Thank you. I agree with you, especially with your final sentence I quoted above. Some groups and some people can handle the excess carb load better than others; but, on the whole, humans evolved eating meat and fat. Agriculture, with the resultant consumption of grains, arose very late in human history.

The chronic diseases of today: heart disease, diabetes, obesity, cancer et al, were not always prolific, but relatively rare. What has changed is our diet -- not our genome.
