Chris Christie without the baggage of Bridgegate. Christie would have won NJ and CT.
No. And most astute pundits have pointed that out. Both Cruz and Yeb! would have been CRUSHED by the worst and most unfit Dem Presidential nominee in U.S. history.
Multiple astute pundits have pointed out the extremely unique coalition that voted Donald Trump as President.
And no other GOP candidate could have taken on the Dems, the Clintons and the enemedia, and don’t imagine for one moment the enemedia would have gone one iota easier on any other GOP candidate, either.
Trump exposed the whole rotten rigged system, something no other GOP candidate would have had the balls to do. Cruz would have gotten tangled up in all of his clever lies and alienated 90% of the electorate with his preacherish fundamentalism, and Yeb! would have rolled up in a little ball and let everyone kick him to death.
Bingo!!!! Best answer so far.
No! Cruz would have been the only one with a chance.
“Trump has balls of gold”
don’t you mean titanium?
I don’t think so.
Anyone else would have had to hire the usual people who were in collusion with the elite uni-party and party placed there just to ensure a Hildabeast win.
Cruz most likely would have taken her apart in the debates but she would have sicked her attack dogs on him and the pressure would have been to much.
Once the GOPe started trying to get behind Cruz it was clear to me they were concerned about making sure we had a designated looser in place to please the uniparty overlords.
Cruz’s taking Fiorina was proof he was too desperate to win. He could have been a great wrecking ball for Trump and he still can be if he will.
Out of the batch we had, Ben Carson would have done better than the rest. Since he’s black, Hillary wouldn’t have been able to use the racist card. She would have had to just stick to the sexist card, and they would have hired past nurses or someone to throw charges at him. I think he would have quickly said “this isn’t worth it” and given up.
Of all the GOP candidates, the only two who would’ve had any guts to stand up to her were Cruz and Christie. However, neither of them had a winning message. I started as a Cruz guy but, quite honestly, Trump’s message resonated much stronger with me. Building the wall, cutting taxes, not being afraid to say “radical Islam”, bringing jobs back, etc. Trump said the things that I believed.
At one of Trump’s rallies he went off-message for a few seconds and said, “And we’re going to start calling Christmas ‘Christmas’ again.” That made my heart soar. I love that time of year and after eight years of Obama’s “holiday-winter-ecumenical” parties, I’d had enough. Christmas is back!
There is NOT a single human being alive, today, in politics or outside of it, who could have have done what trump did and shall do. I knew/know this, you do, and many others. The sad thing is, that many here still don’t get it at all.
I have been considering this same question for months. I can’t think of even one other Republican who would have gotten close. God bless Donald Trump and God bless and save America!
No.
Cruz would never have passed constitutional muster.
Once the election was well under way the courts would have suddenly noticed his mother’s lack of United States citizenship at the time of his birth. The RNC would have then installed Yeb!
There’s people who could have beaten Hillary...but no one else could have beaten the media.
That is not to say Christie would have beaten Hillary--she might have found other weak spots to exploit and he would have faced the same problem Romney had, unwillingness of some segments of the Republican Party to support him.
Maybe Rick Perry if he had not run in 2012...but again, the Clintons with their politics of personal destruction might have made mincemeat of him.
Cruz announced long ago that Bill Clinton’s rapes were off the table. Pre-emptive surrender. (And of course he didn’t refer to “rapes.”) Thus, Hillary’s abuse of Bill’s victims was off the table.
What’s funny is listening to prominent Republicans talk as though any Republican on the final ballot would have been treated any better than Trump in the MSM.
I was never a fan of Donald Trump.
Never watched one episode of his show, The Apprentice.
When he rode down that escalator in Trump tower to give his memorable speech, I knew in one instant that he was my candidate and that he would be POTUS #45.
Unmatched bravado, unmatched energy, unmatched perseverance, unmatched importance placed on winning and lastly, unmatched love for our country and our ideals.
Cruz would have been slaughtered...he had as much chance of beating Hillary, had he gotten the nomination, as Romney did re beating Obama and for the same main reason... he is completely UNLIKABLE and UNTRUSTWORTHY!
