I’m not fan of Bush. Most folks know I warned against him in 1999 and got so attacked over it, the next spring I left Free Republic for three months.
When I returned a big bunch of the BushBots were no longer here. They had self-destructed and been banished.
None the less, a large contingent remained and swore they were doing God’s work by helping to install him.
What a failed eight years that was. He laid the groundwork for Obama to take over, and here we are.
Bolton would be a good choice for a spot in the Trump administration.

How about no gimme government sinecure for Bolton and he has to go into the private sector and earn a living like everyone else.

Agree. Bolton and Newt both stood solid with Trump when others did not. They deserve some position in a Trump administration if the President elect so chooses.
Lotta posters on this thread who wholeheartedly supported Trump, and now don’t trust him to pick the right cabinet. Go figure.
Gingrich has been with Trump from very early on, and was an articulate spokesperson for him. I see him in a WH position, perhaps Director of Legislation or as Chief of Staff if Trump doesn’t select his son-in-law. He knows the legislative process inside out, who’s who in DC, where the bodies are buried. He’s a great asset, especially to a POTUS who’s never held public office before.
I agree. He was supposed to disband the UN and did nothing but make them stronger. I can’t stand Bolton.

Newt is too unpredictable. His date with Pelosi on a couch to promote global warming is unforgettable and a killer for his conservative credibility.
We do not need any of these neo-conservative hawks. President Trump needs new blood.

Sometimes you have to take into consideration the times in which these comments were made.
A year ago ISIS had captured Iraqi cities and was even threatening parts of Baghdad.
There was a fear not only Iraq would fall, but possibly Saudi Arabia and the Emirates. So what to do?
Sunnis don’t have a nation of their own. They have been content to settle in and be content within Iraq. That appeared to be disintegrating as Iraq teetered.
At the time this was taking place, I’m not convinced it was a terrible idea. The choices were slim and none.
Since that time I have been amazed to watch ISIS seemingly die nearly as fast as it popped out of nowhere. Maybe U. S. funds and arms dried up. I don’t know.
Sometimes your options are limited, and doing something not so good, is better than letting something terrible happen.
I’m not convinced he was dead wrong here.
He knows the dynamics of the region as well as anyone, and after having watched him in action, I reflexively give him the benefit of the doubt.
He’s not a Clinton backing Leftist by any stretch of the imagination. He has always expressed views that represented the United States well at the U. N. and in every interview I have ever witnessed.

For those people saying no to Gingrich.
Gingrich is pretty smart and can give good advice but he has foot in mouth disease that comes out every so often, so I can understand the concern.
