Gingrich's support was of the "in name only". Gingrich tried to stab Trump in the back at his weakest point, which is exactly the purpose of Gingrich's attempts at insinuating himself into Trump's circle.

Consider that one of the benefits of people like Mr. Bolton working for the Trump Administration is that patriots will make sure that federal officials like Bolton learn about the federal government’s constitutional Article I, Section 8-limited powers.

Sure. Here's Bolton advocating for creating yet another (Sunni, Wahhabist) Islamic country. Essentially his argument is that to defeat the Islamic State, we should create another one. "Stuck on stupid" is a phrase that comes to mind here.
