The rallies were NOT just about getting a bunch of people together. They were a means to circumvent the drive by media and to take the message to the people-—NOT just the 10,000 at a rally, but to reach tens of thousands in local TV markets and radio markets when the LOCAL news had to cover these events. They got millions of dollars in free advertising, and better, the message-—due to the nature of local news being less dominated by “analysts”-—was undiluted. In other words, the rallies gave Trump TV time that was unfiltered.

The rallies WERE the ground game. Jesus did the same thing: instead of knocking on everyone’s doors, Jesus held rallies, bringing masses of people TO him instead of going to the people one by one.
