Please explain what these music posts have to do with conservatism, politics or anything else normally associated with FR?

This is a waste of bandwidth that belongs on Facebook.

I love The Cars. Their songs were very well written, even the light and silly ones. They had a variety of brand sounds, sweet and bubblegummy such as “Bye Bye Love, subtle and sexy, as in Who’s Gonna Drive You Home? Poignant and anthem like as in Let The Good Times Roll. It was a well developed, multifauceted band.

The lead singer has been ill for a long time, and refuses to perform publicly any longer. The Great and Masterful Todd Rundgren of Philidelphia has toured with others singing the lead parts from time to time.

Benjamin Orr died 16 years ago. He was better then Ric Ocasek IMHO.

It’s posted in Chat.

You know, as in chatting with people.

The Cars were a great band. It’s amazing how many folks don’t realize that Ben Orr sang so many of their songs, he was great.

But he and Ric Ocasek did make a good duo. Ocasek had that unique voice when he sang.

Ben Orr may be little known because of the way Cars was structured and sold to the public. The Cars was one of those groups that only had a one main face that I recall, that being O’Casek. It could be that be the time I was paying attention to them, Rick had taken the lead and had become ‘the face of the group’.

Another group like that would be U2.
When I think of U2, I first think of Bono. For someone more attuned to their music, you would know the names of the other guys. To me, they just never became anywhere as distinct a persona as Bono. Same with Sting, formerly of Police.
Who can name anybody else in Police other than Sting?
Not me.

They had similar voices, Ocasek was definitely the quirkier of the two.

This first Cars album is one of those perfect albums for me, and I am more of a heavy rock/metal guy.

This is a waste of bandwidth that belongs on Facebook.

They are off-topic. It is irrelevant that they are tagged as "chat" because they show up in the main thread.

In any event, they can be viewed and commented upon on Youtube.

Furthermore, why would an ostensibly conservative audience on FR show fondness for music and art that overwhelming promotes promiscuous sexuality, drug use, Godlessness, etc.? Classic pop and rock and R&B is hostile to conservative social and family values, even if you are now a conservative but really got into it back when you were 16.

It is OT. Go to Youtube.

That’s how it happened with me with Orr, I saw some concert footage and I was like ‘whoah the bassist sings this and this this?!’

My son sang this song at his Pre-K Talent Show back in May 2006. We watched the video the other day and laughed out loud at how funny it is... I’ve been meaning to send a copy to Ric Ocasek and I keep putting it off...

Uh, some of us have this thing called “self control” and a moral compass, and can listen and watch stuff, and not walk away mirroring what was there.

Now tell us what songs or genres you like so we can see what proper music for conservatives should be.

I mean what type of easily-influence infant can you be in order to be that triggered?

There actually is an interest within FR for these music threads. They’re posted in Chat. You don’t have to click on the link if you don’t want to. They’re a welcome distraction from all the crap going on around us.

Take your complaint to the management. If they don’t like “OT threads”, they will shut them down.

If that doesn’t suit you, start your own site and do with it what you like.

Andy Summers, guitar. Stewart Copeland, drums. I had to think for almost a minute, but they came back to me ;))

What music did you listen to growing up, Sandy Patty? Thrills & chills... Who takes the lyrics of rock songs to heart? It was all about the beat, the hook and or the groove. Take deep breaths & relax ;))
