Issac the traveler as he is known on social media has so far walked almost 6,000 km and has now reached Kuwait. But the Spanish traveler of Algerian descent has about 1,356 km to go to reach the holy city of Makkah to perform Umrah.
Umrah is a non-mandatory lesser pilgrimage made by Muslims to Makkah, which may be performed at any time of the year.
From Paris - Issacs starting point - the traveler took five months to reach Kuwait, passing through 16 countries.
The only device he has with him to help him reach the goal is simply a baby stroller which he uses to store his belongings.
Issac informed Saudi social media users that the trip is solely funded by him and not from any outside source.
He is now waiting for his visa to finally enter Saudi Arabia.
I admire his diligence ... but what’s with the stupid gesture?
What is Makkah?
The story I liked was in Rogue Warrior about the Navy Seal left in Tehran during the failed hostage rescue attempt. He walked from Tehran to Istanbul, Turkey, entered the US Embassy, and was more than a little POed even after having 2500 km to cool off a bit.
Mecca
They holy city of Islam in Saudi Arabia.
Makkah is similar to Kaka just runnier.
I was wondering about that myself. He’s French, but in Britain the V-sign is the equivalent of a middle finger. It doesn’t seem to be his intent, but maybe it is?
I thought it was something like Macaca.
Oh, now it’s “Makkah.” I always thought it was “Mecca.” Or whatever the raghead word for “Shrine to Evil” is.
God would smile more favorably on him if his pilgrimage had been to Santiago de Compostela.
It would be a shorter hike, too.
