I have a farm nearby and eat at this fellow’s restaurant all the time. I have met him but would not say that I know him, let alone count him as a friend.
There is a long history of Turkey engaging in human rights abuses against Kurds. It is a leap to suppose that this fellow is either a Muslim or a terrorist. It is also worth pointing out that he left Turkey five years before the PKK was designated a terrorist organization. In any event, it is a mistake to lump this fellow in with, say, ISIS. That is most definitely not the case.
By the way, from Wikipedia: As a whole, the Kurdish people are adherents to a large number of different religions and creeds, perhaps constituting the most religiously diverse people of West Asia. Traditionally, Kurds have been known to take great liberties with their practices.
