In hindsight, that partition was one of the dumber geopolitical developments to occur in a 20th century full of dumb geopolitical developments. Pakistan is a nuclear rogue state, the creator and nurturer of the Taliban, the sanctuary of Osama bin Laden, and a guaranteed source of Muslim terror for decades to come. The world would be a far better place today if Pakistan's Muslims had just been part of a secular India.
