Actually not true. Most life insurance policies WILL pay off after a two year waiting period from the policy’s inception.

Here’s a quote from the Time.com/money site.

“Usually, this clause states that no death benefit will be paid if the insured commits suicide within two years of taking out a policy. Whenever an insured person replaces an existing life insurance policy with a new one, the time clock for the suicide clause is set back to zero and starts over again”

my life insurance pays out for suicide. There were some clauses designed to prevent someone from buying and policy and committing suicide shortly thereafter, but otherwise same payout as getting hit by a truck
