I met the oldest guy to climb Everest, at that time. $$$
Never a word about the Sherpas, like they were not there.

Others proudly compare themselves to the Sherpas.

The Sherpas maintain a system of aluminum ladders over the more technical sections.
You still need to be in top condition and have a fat wallet.
I do not think they were using ladders with Tabli?

Isn't the last ~1600 ft about the only technical climbing portion?

On top of that, it's one way. Ya gotta wait your turn in both directions.
