None of my kids were ever offered civics in a public school (we homeschooled it). It isn’t taught. Deliberately.
Our “representatives” : Don’t tell the kids that THEY own the government; they might one day take it away from us thieves.

My daughter is a junior in HS, she just completed a group project on “how to organize a social revolution”.
Really, Civics never offered? In that case I am most fortunate indeed. An entire semester of Civics in the Dallas Independent School District back in the late 50s, early 60s The teacher was very good at his job,and he made the class interesting and very instructive, memorable. The four siblings who followed in age, were not taught in the same fashion. My sister, a few years younger did home school her children and anything she learned was absorbed at that time. The civics class opened my eyes to the fact our government was delicately balanced and only solid as long as generations were taught the concept. One brick removed and all would go down. That class opened my eyes to so much, it completely changed my life and to be on guard, constantly watching the landscape.
In schools today, rather than civics, Climate Change (global warming) is taught I suppose. My SIL children were the results of this experiment. Years ago, still in grade school, she would tell us of the ‘cute’ things they relayed after a day in school. The children she raised are not the same educated children my sister raised. The entire family is so liberal I cannot stand to be around them for any length of time. Unafraid to tell you their beliefs, they strike when you might express alternatives. To avoid family conflict, prefer to remove myself from the foreseen altercation.
Now we’ve Common Core, no local input, and our government consumes us all.
