The Remington model 870 is probably the greatest pump ever made. It is even better than the Winchester models 97 and 12.
I taught skeet at the University of Southern Mississippi for two years. For those students who didn’t have their own guns the University supplied three Remington 870s. These guns were pretty old and I roughly calculated that they probably had fired a combined 400,000 rounds with no problems.
One of them finally began to sometimes fail to hold the next shell in the magazine. I had no idea how long it had been since they were cleaned. The school had no cleaning supplies so I finally brought some from home and gave them a good going over. The shell stop problems went away and they continued to keep firing as long as I was there.
