Walt Disney World has shuttered up for the fourth time in its history as Hurricane Matthew bears down on the Sunshine State.
As the storm approached Florida on Thursday night, the park and several of its entities in Orlando also shut their doors.
Since the park opened in 1971 it has only closed three other times - all for hurricanes.

Yeah, Clark’s really going to be angry.
For the Disney area the storm is just about gone. They’ll probably open tomorrow for the weekend.
Hopefully Matthew doesn’t do that projected loopty loop and come back stronger next week. Yikes.
Considering their legal s**tstorm they’re dealing with over the kid attacked by the alligator, they’re not taking any risks of additional injury.
It did not close that weekend in 2004(?) when the 5th hurricane in a row to hit Fl. was predicted to be a direct hit on Orlando. For a variety of reasons that are unimportant I was in Orlando that weekend. The hurricane took an abrupt hard left turn into the Gulf. My son (6 YO at the time) went to Disney World that Sunday. We were literally the only tourists there. We rode every ride multiple times. No crowd, no one but me, the boy, and the Disney employees. Now that was cool.
SOB!!! I’m grief stricken. If only I hadn’t I hadn’t bought that 2003
V8 Expedition, the Mouse would be making kids smile this weekend. This is so tragic. It’s more than I can bear.
One of the guys in our office is there for a family reunion of sorts. Last we heard they’re cooped up in their hotel, but the weather’s not that terrible so they expect to be back at the park tomorrow.
